This week, second grade began learning about the bass clef and how to remember the lines and spaces.
Bass clef lines: Great Big Dogs Fight AnimalsSecond grade began learning two of their Spring concert songs, Cherry Blossoms and Steven Foster Trilogy. They also learned about the Brass instrument family, and how brass instruments make sound.
Bass clef spaces: All Cows Eat Grass
Third grade learned a large portion of one of their Spring concert songs, Wink to the Little Baby. They began their composition project by writing down all the rhythms they know. Next week they will use these to practice creating their own rhythms. Third grade also began learning about the orchestra of the Classical period, with a focus on the String section.
First grade practiced labeling treble clef lines, sight-reading, dictation, and general listening skills. They also listened to different kinds of orchestra music and moved to it. Kindergarten also worked on sight-reading. First grade worked on the Spanish in their Spring concert song All the Beautiful Colors, while Kindergarten worked on The Bullfrog.
