First Week Back From Break

Welcome back! I hope everyone's break was restful. Before break, students saw a performance of The Magic Flute by AZ Opera, and it was wonderful. I also sent an email to all parents about the upcoming concert. This week, I am sending home students with physical fliers. If your student hasn't brought one home by Friday, ask them about it!

This week is being spent in concert preparation. All grades are reviewing music and what to expect at the performance. Students will also be looking at woodwind instruments, in preparation for a performance next week. At the end of the week, ask your student what a woodwind quintet is! Hopefully they will remember :)

Q3W8 - Opera Next Week

This week, we learned about Mozart. Kindergarten through 3rd grade learned how amazing Mozart was, what a "child prodigy" is, and older grades discussed the impact being famous as a child had on Mozart as an adult. All grades were informed about the opera performance coming up on Monday, and given the basic plot to The Magic Flute in preparation.

Kindergarten can sing all three of their songs together very well and sound smooth. 1st grade has learned all of Swine Song and Choral Suite - now they only need to add Yankee Doodle! 2nd grade has all three songs learned - only the end of the Hand Jive needs some editing. 3rd grade just finished memorizing all of their songs, and can now start adding some flair to the music.
