Kindergarten continued to work on remembering and writing the musical alphabet while first grade worked on labeling staff notes.
Kindergarten and first grade continue to develop their concert songs and performance skills. First grade has finished learning notes for Ring the Bells, It's Christmas! and Somebody's Knockin', and now are working on beautifying them.
For listening, Kindergarten and first grade listened to "Hop o’ My Thumb" by Maurice Ravel and discussed the story that the music is trying to accompany.
Second grade practiced writing different rhythms on various lines and spaces while third grade practiced labeling staff notes.
Second grade had an extra day of music on Wednesday, and so have been working hard on Hine Ma Tov and Lightning! all week long, as well as Arre Borriquito. Different classes have different parts, which can be accessed at home here: Arre Borriquito (click on "Part-by-Part" at the bottom)

Third grade worked on Carol of the Bells and Hanerot Halalu.
For history, third grade learned about Vivaldi and baroque instrumentation, in preparation for the symphony which is coming to visit Archway Chandler.
Vivaldi facts:
- Born in Venice, Italy
- Vivaldi started as a priest and had red hair, so was nicknamed the “Red Priest”
- Bach admired Vivaldi and rearranged some of his music for organ
- There weren’t “Baroque orchestras” so much as small ensembles that eventually developed into orchestras later in history
