Update for the week of September 26-30

This week, Kindergarten learned and wrote "quarter notes" and "eighth notes," and learned that they are Tas and Ti-Tis. They also began to look at the half note. First grade started learning the line notes for the Bass clef. Both grade talked about Treble Clef being for higher notes and Bass Clef being for lower notes. Second grade continues to work on steps vs. skips while third grade also works on labeling bass clef notes on the staff.

For listening, first grade listened to "Pizzicato From The Fantastic Toy Shop" and moved to the music to act out the story. Second grade listened to “Marching Band, Acrobats and Juggler,” discussing what aspects of the music made the sections sound like acrobats, jugglers, or a marching band. Third grade took their Baroque Composers quiz.

All grades worked on their concert songs. Third grade finished auditions for the solos in Amani Utupe, second grade worked on Arre Borriquito, first grade practiced crescendos, and Kindergarten worked on proper choir standing technique.
