Q3W2 - Preparing for the Lyric Exam

If you are here looking for practice materials, scroll down :)

Since I won't see 4th or 2nd grade next week, due to No School on Monday and the Tetra String Quartet on Wednesday, those two grades focused hard on memorizing lyrics. 4th grade is doing very well - almost everyone seems to have the lyrics memorized already (or mostly memorized). 2nd grade is still struggling - many students will have to listen to the song/read the lyrics a couple of times a day before they will be confident for the exam.

5th and 3rd grade will still have two more lessons next week, so there is less pressure. 5th grade needs more individual work on Ave Maria, but their other two songs are fairly strong. 3rd grade is doing well on all three songs, but also needs individual practice for all three songs.

Q3W1 - Prepping the Concert - EXAM DATES

Welcome back from break! Our Spring concert is in about 3 months, and we have a lot to prepare - 4th and 5th grade have especially challenging songs and will need to practice at home.

To the right of this page are the Spring practice links. Not every song has a link, but most do. More helpful links maybe posted over the next months, as well.

We have a few exams coming up that students should be aware of:

Lyrics Memorized - all concert lyrics must be memorized by January 27th (4th and 2nd Grade) or January 28st (5th and 3rd Grade). This will contribute to their Knowledge grade.

Melodies Memorized - the students must have their concert song melodies (not percussion, choreography, solos, or anything else) learned by February 3rd (4th and 2nd Grade) or February 4th (5th and 3rd Grade). This will contribute to their Technique grade.

Solos Prepared - any student wishing to audition for a vocal or percussion solo should be ready by February 13th/14th.
