Q3W1 - Prepping the Concert - EXAM DATES

Welcome back from break! Our Spring concert is in about 3 months, and we have a lot to prepare - 4th and 5th grade have especially challenging songs and will need to practice at home.

To the right of this page are the Spring practice links. Not every song has a link, but most do. More helpful links maybe posted over the next months, as well.

We have a few exams coming up that students should be aware of:

Lyrics Memorized - all concert lyrics must be memorized by January 27th (4th and 2nd Grade) or January 28st (5th and 3rd Grade). This will contribute to their Knowledge grade.

Melodies Memorized - the students must have their concert song melodies (not percussion, choreography, solos, or anything else) learned by February 3rd (4th and 2nd Grade) or February 4th (5th and 3rd Grade). This will contribute to their Technique grade.

Solos Prepared - any student wishing to audition for a vocal or percussion solo should be ready by February 13th/14th.

Q2W8 - Renaissance and Baroque Music

We have been working on music theory lately. 2nd grade just finished learning the lines and spaces; now they will be working on memorizing/solidifying this knowledge. 3rd grade is reviewing the knowledge from last year and working on recognizing the notes fast. 4th and 5th grade are reviewing the notes and adding on complex rhythms. All grades have been playing notes from their concert music on the barred Orff instruments to practice.

4th and 5th grade are very briefly covering the Renaissance, before continuing onto the Baroque era.
