3rd grade finished their compositions, and have been practicing playing them. Tomorrow, 3rd graders will finally perform their pieces! 2nd grade has been preparing for their final exam, also happening tomorrow. Their final is on reading and writing treble clef notes. 3rd and 2nd grade will spend remaining music classes reviewing fun history and instrument activities.
Kindergarten and 1st grade (and 2nd) looked at the Can-Can, a surprisingly classical piece of music from a comic opera about the classic tragedy Orpheus and Eurydice. This week, Kindergarten and 1st grade are learning about Camille Saint-Saëns' Carnival of the Animals. Today, they discussed each animal in the piece, describing each animal, deciding how the music based on such an animal might sound, and then voting if they agreed with Saint-Saëns' choices. On Thursday, the Carnival of the Animals will be listened to in its entirety and students will fill out some worksheets.
Belle Voci has learned about drumming circles, singing circles, vocal improvisation, lyrical improvisation, properly singing vowels, breathing and posture, singing in harmony, singing in rounds, and expression in body and face. This week is our last meeting of the year!
