This week, Kindergarten really solidified the first half of Simple Gifts, as well as began learning more of Frosty the Snowman. First Grade can now sing the entirety of This Little Light of Mine, and is about to begin learning Hava Nagilah. Second Grade now can sing all of Tongo, although it is still a rough draft. Third grade has now learned all of Canoe Song. 3A and 3C sing Part 1 and 3B sings Part 2.
Both 2nd and 3rd grade continue to develop their knowledge of reading rhythms (quarter note, half note, etc). Kindergarten and 1st grade are also developing experience with rhythm and keeping a beat. Kindergarten and 3rd grade are listening to Bach, and 2nd and 3rd grade learned a little about the organ this week ("LITTLE"
FUGUE in G MINOR BWV 578 - JONATHAN SCOTT ORGAN). 1st grade listened to music by Francous Couperin. 2nd grade listened to more harpsichord music by Scarlatti (Sonata
in d minor, K. 517, harpsichord).
