What an amazing concert this past Tuesday! Thank you to all the students and staff who worked together to make the concert so wonderful.
This week, the first two days were spent in concert preparation and rehearsal. In the latter half of the week, 2nd and 3rd grade students discussed the concert and how to give constructive criticism. Second grade continued to work on their compositions and third grade learned about Tonic and Dominant chords (currently called "Home" and "Away"), preparing them for their upcoming composition project.
First grade explored the idea of a "beat" more with Engine, Engine Number 9, and both first grade and Kindergarten listened to Carnival of the Animals. They discussed what different animals might "sound" like and then did movement with scarves to embody that sound/mood.
